In Waterloo and the hundreds of other municipalities in Ontario, today is election day.
While the federal and provincial governments get the most attention, local governments have a significant effect on our daily lives: keeping the lights on and delivering clean water; building and maintaining roads, sidewalks, trails, and transit; providing recreation, libraries, and parks; supporting culture and providing public health; and protecting us with emergency services.
Today is the day where one action can most shape your community for the next four years: voting.
Polls open at 10 a.m. and stay open until 8 p.m., so exercise your democratic right to vote.
And if you aren’t sure, you can find your polling station on the city’s website.
